Walter Schluep - October 13, 1931 - March 23, 2016

Winner of many prestigious awards, Walter Schluep is recognized worldwide for his contribution to the Modernist and Modern Art movement. Spending most of his life in Montreal Quebec,  Walter Schluep worked alongside notable jewelers such as Gabriel Lucas, George Delrue, and Hans Gehrig while exhibiting extensively. Schluep's creative and culturally relevant works of art are becoming more and more sought after as more people are discovering the joy of owning and wearing a genuine piece from his collection.

Known for his wearable works of art, this unique handmade sterling silver brooch is an perfect example of the Walter Schluep esthetic - whimsical yet brutalist featuring labor intensive details that required careful craftsmanship. This brooch is adorned with two deep set Japanese cultured pearl accents. The small wheel featured in the middle of the brooch is a wheel from a watch mechanism, another example of his unique approach to jewelry. Brooch was made in 1973.  Original box included.

"His pieces are both objects to be looked at as sculpture and jewelry to be worn," -a review from the Montreal Gazette Newspaper.
