Stunning antique early Victorian witch's heart pin featuring diamonds and turquoise stones. Witch's hearts, which have been popular since the 15th century, were symbols of love relationships, betrothal and used to ward off and protect the wearer from evil spirits. Pin/brooch is circa 1830-1840.
Diamonds: Twelve (12) pave set, rose cut diamonds measuring approximately 1.2 mm - 1.9 mm each. Three (3) bezel set, old mine cut diamonds measuring approximately 1.8 mm - 2.0 mm in diameter each. Total estimated 0.35ct diamond weight.
Turquoise: Three (3) prong set, cabochon cut turquoise stones measuring approximately between 3.96 x 4.74 mm - 5.02 mm x 5.82 mm. Stones are Persian turquoise in color.
Metal: 14k yellow gold, 9-10k rose gold pin and silver overlay on heart.
