Belgian artist-jeweler Fernand Demaret (1924 – 2013) was best known for his contribution to the modern ‘Art-Jeweler’ movement. He along with André Lamy, Bernard Francios, Claude Wesel created an atelier for young artists to express their creative talent. Demaret rose in popularity in the 1960’s and in the early 1970s, he lent his design talents to the Danish firm of Georg Jensen, creating modern and clean-lined pieces in gold. Fernand Demaret continued producing pieces of art until his death in 2013.
Impressive singed ‘Demaret’ white fire opal and diamond ring handmade in 18k yellow gold. True to the ‘Demaret’ signature, this modernist opal and diamond ring is a wonderful example of his more progressive work. The juxtaposition of mechanical motifs and organic forms were a common theme in his work and can be seen here in the abstract style of the ring and organic colors of the white fire opal.
